@ottonomy Hey Nate. Maybe you can point me in right direction. Rebuilding all my course repos but wondering about how others are thinking about metadata.
I am trying to stay as plain html as possible but want to be forward thinking in tracking how material gets shared and remixed and making sure I have community building blocks set up.
Full indie web DIY is good, but next step is (not centralized but big providers in unevenly distributed networks) directory services that can provide guideposts to your repo. Common practice of metadata publishing across thousands of indies would make that easier.
Yes that is my ultimate goal. I asked around at #oer18 it looks like a group met around 2013 and wrote some standards around metadata. Looked at @moodle metadata standards as well.
I have my repos up now, but not publishing to gh-pages yet… quickthoughts.jgregorymcverry.com/2018/04/19/ott…
@jgmac1106 @ottonomy Are there any actual consuming use cases for metadata in the #OER space or are pelple putting in metadata for the extra admin tax? I'm curious what those are and what they're doing with the metadata. I've not personally run across any.
Yeah I am at a purely philosophical use case thinkery stage right now. There are tools that repositories use that import data. They must be assigning metadata to fields.
I am thinking strictly in terms of @altmetric stuff for now and also… quickthoughts.jgregorymcverry.com/2018/04/19/chr…
