Hardest notes
   sought in tonal
caskets collapsing
on off beat rackets
while simple counts
  escape
me
beckoning on a
reckoning of a
four four
perused
around a
score
gathered
on patterns

I can not see
on the
ONE
or Glory
  of the TWO
    FOUR.
   Hardest music at
it's core,
is rhythm of
silence and
patience

Greg McVerry

Hushed Gossip
split on summer's
wind
in forgivines of
sins unfolding
in green chandeliers
hanging precariously
to drought
tied
strings of
rain that will not sing
unseen bounces on
bird songs
from above
as time tickles
toes from below.

Our simple existence,
pollen in a
warrm breeze
conscience but a wisp
as we silence ourselves to stories
the wood tells

Greg McVerry

As feet
  seap into
debris
and leaves
squeeze in
between toes

Our seat,
  our tree

An epiphany

Initially we
can not
see the enemy
within me

yet we seek
delivery from
the litanies of
scress and decress
that seize
sounds that surround
when real silence
inside all that
can't be found
abounds

in a Progeny
we seek
synchrony in
songs sun on
tears falling in
Cerpascular rays

Greg McVerry

  Truth
found on
  sounds dancing
on hymns
  of a
       dying leaf
Just fade into
     broken
  silence of
an evening wind
 while our
moon rises
  on forgotten surprises
twisting in
 a long
   setting
 sun

Greg McVerry

Slip
   past
lips
  of memory's
swinging hips
while it seizes
all it pleases
  in
silence
 eyeing
violence
    sung in a
cadence of can't

  want
to feel
  Hang with
humans not
  masked transactions
As teacher I
  wear one every day
not cloth but
hope
   strings weighing heavy on
bent ears.
  Can't shut off
encompassing
silence
need some
 noise

Greg McVerry

we
fill our poems
with trees and birds
rarely do we atone
for screams of,
  "I can't breathe"
sheltering stanzas
of cultural melanism
getting darker
     sung on
songs of the first griot
Our presence isn't a crime
but our silence is

Greg McVerry

Sounds swoon
Kora talks
in voices of West African
djelis
wind blowing through
strings
feeds me, feeds me
with sounds of choir
dissolve words into sounds
scat a a tat do do just dat
A silence in presence
a divinity in devotion
beyond time
