@CLEatND Agree with everything but the "leveling" part...kids are more than a number and your reading inventory is crappy at sorting and labeling kids.

Greg McVerry

But why I think getting every kid to answer, "My url is" is a great struggle around and decolonizing the academy. How can you know what truth is until you shape and reflect on your own? We can not recreate inequities of the past

Greg McVerry

@SR_Toliver You are also correct about having a website, and we know the inequity of like all issues with texts gets amplified online. BiPOC and marginalized peoples may not have the same access and time to run a website,

Greg McVerry

@SR_Toliver Yes! I agree and you hit the crux of the issue, all of our professionals orgs are addicted to the journal subscription revenue, but folks like @MisterMinor can post everything and license it for reuse but doesn't have to make it free

Greg McVerry

@booktoss pains me to miss folks like you & our entire crew at & but see 0 movement anywhere on liberating knowledge from shackles of racist system that pours resources into research universities while our community colleges starve.

Greg McVerry

@booktoss Do those white women have much to offer you in terms of "furthering discussions?" What knowledge do you seek in return for your slides? Do you want you message of to spread? Is it bad to take that message home?

Greg McVerry

Until we address underlying systematic inequality & exploitation built into t publishing, conference, get tenure process fear it will all be anti-racist decolonizing talk among the privilege. The hero worship and book signings bother me too

Greg McVerry

@booktoss Another question, Why doesn't @ncte actively encourage people to openly license and release conference materials so people can learn from folks like @SR_Toliver @JoshEducating! @MisterMinor @halseanderson, w/o spending 1,000s?

Greg McVerry

Who has fun and creative graphic organizers they have used with picture books? Want to share with students in

Greg McVerry

@oldaily @downes I am a little weary of stuff like "empower" and "give voice" students and children have a voice, we just don't listen, and often not about "empowering" but creating a system free of opression.
